All;
As I was specifically mentioned in “Sam and Steve/Citizens for an ethical east bay” diatribe, I feel the need to address their outrageous lies. I have not met with anyone, ever in Cynthia’s office to advise them of anything regarding any project at her home. The statement is contained that Sam and Steve would like to ask to about what a Mr. Porter told the neighbors, “although we understand that Mr. Smith would be jeopardizing his own job standing by doing so.” Sam and Steve, Staff would be glad to tell you I don’t worry about my job-I can’t make decisions based on what the Manager, City Council, Cynthia, or anybody else wants, I make them based on the Code. I haven’t hesitated to leave municipalities in the past that I thought were behaving contrary to the laws and rules governing our activities. I have no problem standing up to what I perceive is illegal or wrong, I would, and have, left jobs where I felt that people weren’t acting legally. I am outraged at your false allegations and the way you are defaming me. You talk about wanting a private investigator, searching emails, and what seems to be a smear campaign. If you are actually concerned about this, please provide me with your contact information so my legal team can start investigating your outrageous, inaccurate and defaming allegations and prove them false. Who are you’re attorneys so my attorneys can serve them. Superfluous, false allegations such as these are why many of us that are actually ethical, work hard and do the right thing are leaving Government. I have spent thirty years protecting people from all types of hazards, and from themselves. I cannot wait to retire and be done with the constant barrage of false allegations, lies and deceit. Regularly, when we deny a permit, or ask for more information, the applicant will respond that we don’t like them personally or we have some grudge against them-no, you’re plans didn’t get the D- that is required by Code, the minimum. Working under conditions such as these are driving all the good people out of government and making it increasingly difficult to recruit and keep good employees. In closing Sam, Steve, et al, either back up your claims with actual proof, provide me with your contact information or stop your vendetta and contemptible allegations. Jerome A.
